George Soros group claims credit for squashing Convention of States in Montana

Published in Blog on February 09, 2023 by Article V Patriot

The George Soros-funded organization Common Cause is flattering itself for preventing the Montana state legislature from calling for a Convention of States.

Last week, the Montana Senate voted in favor of SJ2 calling for an Article V convention on its second reading in a 26-24 vote. We thought we had it in the bag. Sadly, one of the two Democrats who voted on our side flipped on us for the third and final reading the next day. The resolution ultimately failed by a tie vote of 25-25.

Just days later, Common Cause came out of the woodwork to claim responsibility for the Senate’s rejection in a fundraising email.

“With your help, we stopped Montana’s call for a Convention by a single vote just this week!” the email claims. “And before that, we rescinded them in New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, New Hampshire, Delaware, New Mexico, Maryland, and Nevada – in addition to stopping nearly 150 new calls for a convention each year in states across the country.”

The organization’s efforts prove its executives see absolutely no problem with how things are conducted in the Swamp. This also isn't the first time the Soros group has tried to profit off us.

The marketing email was sent by Viki Harrison, the director of Constitutional Convention & Protect Dissent Program. According to the Common Cause website, “Harrison leads our work on stopping a dangerous constitutional convention that would rewrite the entire Constitution and working collaboratively with partners to protect our right to free speech in this country.”

Consider the weight of employing someone solely to counter the Convention of States movement. We are clearly a significant threat to the Deep State and our progress is ruffling feathers. Harrison is the director, meaning there’s presumably an entire department of staff working to keep D.C.'s power intact.

“Here’s a reminder of what’s at stake: our right to peaceful protest, freedom of religion, our right to privacy – essentially the Bill of Rights,” the email fabricates. “Even though it may sound far-fetched, it is entirely possible.”

Here’s the deal, it’s not a “far-fetched” assertion; it’s a meticulously designed falsehood.

This fear-evoking rhetoric attempts to instill a negative feeling toward limiting federal power. But for critical thinkers who are well aware of the federal government’s destructive actions, these lies are easily dismissible.

The motivation to roadblock our mission has become a strategic goal of today’s elitists in opposition to federal power restrictions. Common Cause is one of about 250 progressive institutions that have joined together in an effort to stop a Convention of States. Other groups include Planned Parenthood, Democracy21, the AFL-CIO, AFSCME, La Raza, and the Sierra Club.

"No convention has ever been called under Article V for a reason: there is just too much at stake," the Common Cause website reads. They fail to recognize why the Founding Fathers wrote Article V of the Constitution: to give We the People a way to fight back against an excessively bloated government.

Common Cause is located in the heart of centralized corruption – Washington, D.C. – one block from the White House. Convention of States is made up of grassroots Americans living everyday lives across the nation. We aren't headquartered in D.C. and we never will be.

If the mob and Common Cause don't like what we're doing, we know we're on the right track. We've highlighted Common Cause's tactics several times, which you can find here.

The fact remains that the plurality of Democrats and Republicans are for this constitutional solution. It is exclusively the powerful establishment that spurs negative superstitions to the masses. See for yourself the lies and funding behind the group.

For COSA, our values don’t align with Soros and his nonprofits working to retain power – and they never will. We will continue to battle against these anti-American, political actors until we bring power back to the people.

Will you stand with Soros or with a constitutional solution to our overreaching government?

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
