SMS Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully.  By checking the box to sign up for one or more text messaging programs, you expressly consent to receive text messages from Convention of States Action (“we,” “us,” “our”) and others texting on our behalf, including text messages made with an autodialer, at the telephone number(s) that you provide.  The messaging frequency varies and you may opt-out of these communications at any time.  Consent to receive text messages is not required to sign our petition or use our website.

You also accept and agree to be bound by these SMS Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

Program Description

We and our service providers may use an automatic telephone dialing system (“autodialer”) to deliver text messages to you.  Our text messages are intended to provide you with information about volunteering opportunities, calls to action, upcoming events, and other matters connected with self-governance.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply to each text message sent or received in connection with our text messages, as provided in your mobile telephone service rate plan (please contact your mobile telephone carrier for pricing plans), in addition to any applicable roaming charges.  We do not impose a separate fee for sending our text messages.

Supported Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may change from time to time, but currently include AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Alltel, US Cellular, Metro PCS, and Cellular One, among others.

How to Opt-In

To opt-in to receive text messages from our text messaging program(s), please follow the instructions provided by the specific page where you are signing a petition, registering for an event, donating to an organization, or any other of our tools where you are asked to opt in to receiving SMS messages.

How to Opt-Out

To stop receiving text messages from a specific text messaging program, text STOP to the five digit short code for the text messaging program from which you no longer wish to receive messages (i.e., the five digit number from which its text messages are being sent).  You will then receive confirmation of your opt-out of that text messaging program.  This will only opt you out of the specific text messaging program associated with that five digit short code.  You will remain opted in to our other text messaging programs.

Your Mobile Telephone Number

You represent that you are the account holder for the mobile telephone number(s) that you provide.  You are responsible for notifying us immediately if you change your mobile telephone number.  You may notify us of a number change to sms-support @ cosaction.com.

You agree to indemnify us in full for all claims, expenses, and damages related to or caused in whole or in part by your failure to notify us if you change your telephone number, including, but not limited to, all claims, expenses, and damages related to or arising under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
