COS Maryland is in Search of Volunteers

Published in Blog on April 23, 2019 by Stephen Patten

Washington, D.C., is broken.

The federal government is spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states, and taking liberty from the people.

It’s time American citizens took a stand and made a legitimate effort to curb the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.
If you agree, we invite you to meet people who share the same values and concerns about our nation as you.

Convention of States Maryland is in search of volunteers. We are a grassroots organization that realizes, “If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”

Your district or a district near you is in need of a DISTRICT CAPTAIN, whose role it is to welcome new volunteers in that district, teach them the basics about Article V, guiding them to contact their state legislators, and have gatherings to share COS with others.

If District Captain seems a bit daunting at first, you could assist by simply calling to thank petition signers and welcoming new volunteers as a FOLLOW-UP TEAM MEMBER.

Those who enjoy using social media platforms can serve COS as a SOCIAL MEDIA WARRIOR. Your comments can help turn the tide of public opinion in our favor.

As you continue to work with our volunteers, you may find that you enjoy helping us recruit and train new COS leaders as a member of the STATE GRASSROOTS COORDINATOR team. You’d help new volunteers to decide which role would suit them, ensure they get the proper training, and connect them with the appropriate leaders in their district and region.

We also appreciate creative writing skills who can contribute as a STATE CONTENT WRITER. If you have that particular talent, we’d love to hear from you.

Already belong to a group like a local gun club, home school parents group, small business owners association, law and order professionals, senior citizens, or farmers groups? You may want to serve as a COALITIONS DIRECTOR and help COS form alliances with local organizations whose members would most likely support Convention of States.

You may be one of those bold individuals who enjoy making connections and forging relationships with influential people. One our most important volunteer positions is that of LEGISLATIVE LIAISON, whose role it is to reach out to our state legislators and help our District Captains and volunteers to connect with them.

Or you may serve as an EVENTS COORDINATOR by helping COS District Captains and other leaders, send invitations, acquire materials, and work with the STATE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR to promote those events.

Our esteemed veterans attend many of these events, and you may be a veteran yourself. If so, we’d love for you to join the team of the VETERANS COALITIONS DIRECTOR.

Or you may have that charismatic personality that comes in handy when interacting with media personalities, and that would make you a good candidate as a STATE MEDIA LIAISON.

Maybe you’re not so much of a people person. Introverts are patriots who love their country, too! We have roles for these special COS servants as well. Our many volunteers and their contact info is managed on a custom-designed database system called CitizenBuilder. We are always looking for computer-savvy and tech-oriented people to help us in the role as STATE INFORMATION ANALYST.

Our teams are encouraged to have frequent events throughout the state. If you don’t mind traveling once in a while and you like to use your smart phone or a camera to take video, we’d love to have you join our team as a STATE VIDEOGRAPHER.

Every one of the above listed volunteer roles has a training program you will have access to, but you need to take the first step let us know you are interested.

We look forward to hearing from you!
