Published in Blog on January 22, 2024 by Article V Patriot

Convention of States grassroots supporters are turning out in droves to champion Article V as COS takes state legislatures across America by storm. To stay in the know about our relentless legislative efforts and advocacy, tune in weekly to COS NOW, a video recap highlighting the most significant COS-related news of the week. Alternatively, catch up on these updates right here on the COS blog.

1. Massachusetts COS 'Crushed' it on Beacon Hill

Massachusetts state representative, Article V resolution co-sponsor, and eternally joyful Steven G. Xiarhos summed up the MA COS team's January 16 testimony in favor of H.3541 at the state capitol thusly in a text sent to MA State Director Michael Arnold early the next morning:

“Yesterday was one of the GREATEST days of my career. You people CRUSHED it like no one has ever done! I was BEAMING inside!”

2. 15+ states contemplate COS legislation as advocates flood state capitols

State capitals across America are buzzing with enthusiasm for Convention of States as grassroots supporters flock to their legislatures in an impressive show of force. As of January 19, 15 states had already introduced COS legislation this year, with more expected to follow suit. Additionally, COS “Surge” events, which kicked off in Tennessee, are slated to take place in all 50 states.

3. Rick Santorum on Iowa radio: We must call a convention of states

COS senior advisor and former senator Rick Santorum appeared on Iowa’s widest-reaching radio station just days before the Iowa caucus last week, urging the legislature to pass an Article V resolution. He argued that “anyone who loves the Constitution should favor this effort.”

He also presented Patriot Pins to six members of the COS Virginia team, honoring their committed service.

4. Rep. Ken Ivory's Exclusive COS Blog Series Unveiled!

A stalwart in the fight for American principles, Utah Rep. Kev Ivory recently announced a COS-exclusive educational blog series, sharing how “We the People” can navigate the political landscape, assert our constitutional rights, and tackle the serious problems facing our nation head-on. Parts one and two of this series, penned by Rep. Ivory himself, are available now only on the COS blog.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
