There is nothing like positive feedback.
Massachusetts state representative, Article V resolution co-sponsor, and eternally joyful Steven G. Xiarhos summed up the MA COS team's January 16 testimony in favor of H.3541 at the state capitol thusly in a text sent to MA State Director Michael Arnold early the next morning:
"Yesterday was one of the GREATEST days of my career. You people CRUSHED it like no one has ever done! I was BEAMING inside!"
Undeterred by bitter cold and snow, over 20 members of the team, who are clearly not mere sunshine patriots, made their way to the State House in Boston to publicly express their adamant support for an Article V convention of states.
Testimony for H.3541 was heard before the General Court's Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs, which favorably passed the COS resolution during the previous legislative session. COS co-founder and senior advisor Michael Farris testified via video conference.
The laurels given by Rep. Xiarhos are in no way overstated. In cheerfully calm yet resolute tones, MA COS witnesses explained the origins of Article V and its significance, why an Article V convention is absolutely necessary at this time, and what an Article V convention does and – just as importantly – does not do.
As was the case during the previous legislative session, the MA COS team educated, edified, and reasoned with great clarity and unity of purpose. They explained the non-partisan nature of Article V and outlined the important role that state legislators play in the process.
The impressive showing was borne of countless hours of diligent, weekly practice by MA COS volunteers who long ago committed to testifying and followed through with enthusiastic dedication.
The tremendous effort exhibited by the MA COS team, which yielded such a heartfelt and uplifting reaction from Rep. Xiarhos, demonstrates once again how effective our grassroots army can be in the cause of returning our federal government to its proper function.
Our great champion in the General Court – "Rep. X" – also issued a pertinent coda to a memorable day in an historic setting as the team patiently awaits the joint committee's decision whether to again favorably move the COS resolution out of committee for broader consideration:
"We take it one step at a time and we know what we are up against – but we laid the foundation for freedom for generations to come where it ALL began!"
