Trump shares clip from Mark Levin promoting COS

Published in Blog on January 26, 2025 by Jakob Fay

The 47th president of the United States reposted a clip from COS endorser Mark Levin, in which the author of The Liberty Amendments promotes the Convention of States grassroots movement.

“A MUST WATCH,” Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “THANK YOU MARK!”

In the clip, Levin, one of Convention of States’ most vocal supporters, praised Trump as potentially “the greatest conservative president in the past century.”

“I have decades of experience in the conservative movement, in the constitutionalist movement, in the liberty movement,” he said. After recounting his many qualifications and achievements, including those in the Ronald Reagan administration and as a leader in the Tea Party, Levin added that he was also one of the key players in the modern Article V movement.

“I’ve been involved as one of the leaders in the Convention of States movement with our friend Mark Meckler — over five million members,” he said, showing a picture of himself with Meckler, the president of COS.

In 2013, Levin made the case for using Article V of the Constitution in his hit book The Liberty Amendments, which coincided with the launch of the grassroots Article V movement.

“I undertook this project,” he wrote, “not because I believe the Constitution, as originally structured, is outdated and outmoded, thereby requiring modernization through amendments, but because of the opposite—that is, the necessity and urgency of restoring constitutional republicanism and preserving the civil society from the growing authoritarianism of a federal Leviathan.”

Speaking at the 2022 COS Reclaiming Liberty Summit, Levin encouraged the grassroots with a simple message: “God is behind us.”

“Many of you wonder as you toil out there if it's worth it,” he said. “Let me tell you, there's nothing more worth it than this. And let me tell you one other thing. I hope I live to see, and I can't wait for the day when there is a convention of the states.”

Based on his credentials leading organizations like COS, Levin argued that “when I tell you that Donald Trump is one of the most conservative and has the potential to be the most conservative president this entire century, I know what I’m talking about. He’s consequential. He’s historic. He’s iconic. The things he did in his first term and the things he’s doing right now, right out of the chute, we’ve never seen anything like this.”

The nod from Levin caps off a landmark week for COS, with multiple legislative victories in states including South Dakota and Wyoming.

Additionally, Trump welcomed several outspoken COS proponents, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, into his new administration.

There’s never been a better time to get behind COS, which seeks to rein in federal spending, power, and terms of office using the Founding Fathers' safety mechanism against government tyranny. Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
