Despite several misinformed opponent testimonies against the Article V convention process, the South Dakota Senate passed the Convention of States application on Tuesday afternoon, bringing us one step closer to securing full passage in the Mount Rushmore State.
This groundbreaking victory follows on the heels of last week’s victory in the South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee.
The full Senate voted 23-9 to pass the resolution. If the House passes the same application, South Dakota will become the 20th state to join the Convention of States movement!
“Our government is slipping away,” stated the bill’s primary sponsor, Senator Jim Mehlhaff, urging his colleagues to take action against federal tyranny. “The elitists in Washington are taking our freedoms away bit by bit.”
"I keep hearing this term 'runaway convention,'" another proponent, Senator Chris Karr, addressed the skeptics. "I'd ask, What path do you think this country's on now? What path are we on? I think the train left the station already."
Congratulations to the South Dakota team on an extraordinary win! We look forward to witnessing future progress soon.
