Published in Blog on October 06, 2023 by Article V Patriot

There’s only so much time in a day, and if you’re like us, there’s never enough of it. That’s why, on The Liberty Update, we bring you your need-to-know news in 15 minutes or less.

As we jump into a brand-new week in the fight for liberty, you won’t want to miss these essential headlines from last week’s news cycle. Listen to these stories here, on the latest episode of The Liberty Update, or read them below.

1. Regional summit unifies passionate COS grassroots from every corner of the country

Convention of States relationships were taken to the next level at the Lucky 13 Regional Summit in Kansas City, Missouri, last weekend where approximately 30 activists gathered for a three-day team-building event.

Learn all about this event and others like it.

2. Divided House: McCarthy Makes History as First Speaker Removed from Office

In a surprising turn of events, Rep. Kevin McCarthy has been ousted from his position as Speaker of the House after a dramatic shake-up spearheaded by Rep. Matt Gaetz.

Read all the details here.

3. Jenna Ellis: Convention of States is the only solution to stop the weaponization of government

Convention of States is crucial because the Washington Uniparty establishment is never going to correct itself, Jenna Ellis proclaimed on COS Live this week. They will never stop the weaponization of government against conservatives who want to exercise the right to speech, association, and religion.

"If you represent a client that is disfavored by the deep state, then they're going to target you. They're going to target your profession, your credibility, your livelihood, and your bar license," she explained, adding that she's received over 50 bar complaints to try to destroy her legal career.

Hear the rest of what Ellis had to say here.

4. Convention of States clinches exciting new endorsement

Convention of States is pleased to announce that Representative Josh Brecheen (R-OK) has officially endorsed our historic initiative to drain the D.C. Swamp using Article V of the Constitution. As a patriot committed to constitutional principles and limited government who has personally seen the corruption within our federal government, Brecheen knows as well as anyone just how crucial Article V is.

“I am proud to endorse the Convention of States to limit the power of the federal government and return the power back to the people,” he said.

Be sure to check out the Congressman’s full endorsement statement here.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
