Below is a calendar listing our Convention of States events.  Events are important to help educate citizens about COS and Article V.  We advertise Events on Social Media, eMail Blasts to Supporters, word of mouth etc.

Some Events are Nationally oriented while others are local.

Team Work Makes the Dream Work, so share your Event ideas, and plans with Wisconsin COS. To schedule your event, Slack Direct Message (DM). Call, Text, or eMail the information or questions for your event to our Wisconsin Events Coordinator, or State Director.

Below this calendar, there is a step by step roadmap of how to organize your event.  Use this training, be sure to review the event options listed.

How to organize your event with Wisconsin Convention of States

We have tried to make this as simple and straight forward as possible.  As always feel free to Slack Direct Message (DM). Call, Text, or eMail event questions to our State Event Coordinator and copy in State Director.

Overview

This training has four general sections, with steps listed within each section.  The sections are  "Gather Information about the Event", "If You Would Like National COS to Help Pay for Your Event", "Or - You Pay for Your Event", "Let COS Wisconsin and COS National Know What Happened""

Section I - Gather Information about the Event

You have an idea for an event, or you become aware of a partner coalition that is compatible with our cause.

Some examples of Events are Informational Citizen Meetings, Coffee Hour, Block Walking, Letter Writing, Parades, Gun Shows, Tabling at other Coalition Partner Events (like Turning Point USA etc.), Training Events, Festivals, County Fairs, Car Shows, Pop Up Events etc.

Step one: Start early, give yourself months of time to schedule and work on your event.

Step two: Use the WI Pre-Event Set-Up, fill it out and Slack Direct Message (DM). Call, Text, or eMail the information for your event, or questions you may have to our State Event Coordinator and copy in State Director.

The WI Pre Event Set Up from is a pdf.  If you do not have the ability to create pdf's. feel free to send the information suggested without actually filling out the form.

We will use this information to put your event on the Wisconsin State Schedule, perhaps write a Pre Event Blog, which will help you send out an email and text blast to our local supporters to attend your event.

Post your upcoming event on your social media platforms.  And send a link to your event story and pictures to our Social Media Editor. And send your upcoming event information to local media, newspapers, radio stations, etc.

Step three: Recently National COS has asked the Grassroots to use a Standard way of entering Petition Tags.  National does not ask much from the Grassroots.  Instead they look for the Grassroots to lead the way.  Using the Servant Leadership inverted pyramid, we the Grassroots drives our organization, not National.

Currently it is very difficult for National to identify the Event for each petition.  Each state has its own method.  By Standardizing the Tag, National will be able to identify each Event and match it up for each petition.

This will greatly help with Events, Donations and funding future Events.  We will be able to understand which events produce the most petitions or the least.  Also, we can tell Donors about our Event successes and have firm proof.

Wisconsin Implementation of Standardized Petition Tags
Wisconsin will incorporate the new Standardization of Tags into our Event process.  When an Event Organizer is beginning to set up their event, please send a Pre Event Set Up form to our Wisconsin Event Coordinator, Katherine Skleba 708-436-3936 skleba_2000@yahoo.com You can find the Pre Event Set Up form on this page.

Katherine can enter your Event into our WI Team Calendar.  So can,

Dean Jeffery DC Oshkosh 920-267-0890 dean.jeffery@cosactiom.com or

Art Binhack, SD 262-930-1677 art.binhack@cosaction.com

Katherine, Dean or Art will also build the Standardized Tag for your event. They will Slack it, or email it to you.   Please use it.  In the future if our Wisconsin Grassroots want to create their own Standardized Tags we will consider it.  Other states do it this way.

Section II - If you would like COS National Convention of States to Help Pay for Your Event

(If you do not want COS National to help defray your costs, skip this section, and go to the next section entitled "You Pay for Your Event")

Step four: Watch this video at the top of the page, entitled "Events Forms Tutorial" and what to do, it is just over seven minutes short, Here is a link to the video Event Forms Tutorial Video

Step five: This step is optional and only applies if you would like COS National to help pay for your event.  Fill out the Event Payment Request Form (EPRF).  There are instructions for filling it out, Event Payment Request Form Instructions  Please read it.

It contains important details, like the:

-Event Payment Request Form needs to be submitted at least 21 days prior to the event.

-Be sure to ask for a Non-Profit Discount.

-Does your event require Insurance?   And

-COS National prefers to pay by credit card.  (They can issue a check, but only if the event will not accept credit card payment.)

Here it is Payment Request Event Form  These are pdf's and they email or Slack easily.

Once you have filled out the Payment Request Event Form email it to payment@cosaction.com and be sure to copy in our State Event Coordinator and State Director

Step six: This step is optional and applies if you want COS National to help pay for your event.  After your event, since COS National has helped you pay for your event, you need to fill out the Post Event Questionnaire the form is in pdf format, within 14 days after your event.

Step two: Use the WI Pre-Event Set-Up, fill it out and Slack Direct Message (DM). Call, Text, or eMail the information for your event, or questions you may have to our State Event Coordinator and copy in State Director.

Section IV: Let COS WI and COS National know what happened at the Event

To help you, here is a list of questions to answer to help you tell us what happened. It is called the Post Event Round Up

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient, and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
