WATCH: Idaho, Tim Pool, and history in the making

Published in Blog on February 18, 2024 by Article V Patriot

The grassroots did it again, folks! Convention of States Action outpaced expectations with another history-making week, complete with multiple legislative hearings and groundbreaking strides toward the first-ever Article V convention. To stay in the know about our relentless efforts to secure liberty in America using the Founders’ constitutional safeguard against tyranny, tune in weekly to COS NOW, a video recap highlighting the most significant COS-related news of the week, or catch up on these updates right here on the COS blog.

1. Idaho committee makes history, PASSES Convention of States application

Idaho Senator Todd Lakey and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum lent their voices to a passionate gathering of Convention of States supporters at an Idaho Senate Judiciary and Rules Committee hearing on Wednesday. Together with grassroots activists, they advocated for the adoption of the Convention of States Article V application, which ultimately passed on a 6-3 vote.

2. Tim Pool: Dramatic CHANGE is Possible if You MEET with Your State Legislator

Popular podcaster Tim Pool laid out several important action steps concerned citizens can easily take to promote an Article V convention and effect positive grassroots change.

3. Massachusetts COS Does it Again

Thanks to a well-coordinated, dedicated, and extraordinary effort on the part of the Massachusetts Convention of States team (MA COS), the Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs of the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has favorably passed the Convention of States resolution, H. 3541, for the second legislative session in a row.

4. New Hampshire COS Helps Stop Recission Effort

The New Hampshire Convention of States (NH COS) team was recently instrumental in halting a bill that would have rescinded an Article V convention of states resolution that passed in the New Hampshire House of Representatives on May 30, 2012.

5. Wyoming files COS application

In Wyoming, the Convention of States application was filed during its 20-day 2024 Budget Session with an impressive 11 co-sponsors. According to Regional Director Deanna Becket, "The Wyoming team has been growing steadily over the past year and has amazing leadership that will move the volunteers into action as we press quickly into this session.”

All this and more is highlighted on the most recent episode of COS NOW, available below. Ensure you don't miss a single moment of the action by staying tuned to COS NOW!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
