Trump appoints COS champion to Homeland Security Advisory Council

Published in Blog on April 17, 2025 by Jakob Fay

President Donald Trump appointed renowned conservative commentator and COS standard-bearer Mark Levin to serve on his Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) on Thursday, revealing the newly “revamped” commission will focus on ending the invasion on America’s Southern border.

“It is a big honor to serve on HSAC,” the president wrote on Truth Social, “and I know the new Members, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, Mark Levin, Bo Dietl, and Joseph Gruters, will do an incredible job.”

Levin, who served in the Ronald Reagan administration and has authored numerous best-selling books, helped kickstart the nationwide Convention of States grassroots movement with The Liberty Amendments. The book, which explained how the American people can use Article V of the U.S. Constitution to rein in the federal government, has inspired potentially thousands of readers to join the COS cause.

“I’ve been involved as one of the leaders in the Convention of States movement with our friend [Convention of States President] Mark Meckler — over five million members,” Levin said on a recent episode of his popular Fox News show. Trump later reposted the clip.

Levin is known for his passionate rhetoric and unwavering dedication to the country, making him an obvious choice to help lead Trump’s HSAC.

“Under Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem’s leadership,” Trump explained, “HSAC will work hard on developing new Policies and Strategies that will help us secure our Border, deport Illegal Criminal Thugs, stop the flow of Fentanyl and other illegal drugs that are killing our Citizens, and MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN.”

In the past, Levin has frequently explained that he believes calling an Article V convention to propose amendments limiting the scope, power, and jurisdiction of the federal government is essential to saving our country.

“Let me tell you, there's nothing more worth it than this,” he remarked at the 2022 COS Leadership Summit. “I hope I live to see, and I can't wait for the day when there is a convention of the states.”

To join Levin in support of what he calls the solution as big as the problem, sign the COS petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
