The following was written by COS Virginia volunteer, Rhonda Torres.
Al Torres, recent past State Director COS Texas, moved to Virginia in May of this year.
Leaving his position in Texas and his COS Texas family was not an easy decision. However, family called him back to Virginia.
He promptly became engaged with the regional Convention of States Virginia team as he is fully enmeshed in the challenge to save our country through Article V of our Constitution.
Al now serves nationally as Assistant Regional Director for COS Passed States, as well as serving locally as a member of Jim Peters’ Regional Captain COS Virginia team in the Shenandoah.
Many of Al’s new neighbors and friends instantly saw that Al was actively involved in COS when he and his wife, Rhonda, pulled their truck into the driveway of their new home.
They became intrigued about COS after meeting Al, and urged him to have a gathering to further enlighten them on Convention of States.
On October 21, 2023, Al held his first meeting in Virginia at his home in Lake Frederick, Virginia, to educate and engage twelve of his friends and neighbors in the fight to save America.
Al used a COS educational video and written materials to cover the basic precepts of Convention of States:
- Why: to reduce federal government overreach, reign in national spending, and impose term limits on federal officials
- When: Currently 19 of the required 34 states have agreed to call an Article V Convention. (Virginia has not yet signed on.)
- Who: You, your family, friends, and neighbors to petition your state legislators
- How: sign the petition, find a niche using your strengths within the COS Action organization, donate financially, and spread the word
Seven of the attendees signed the petition that night, three had previously signed, and two need a little more time.
It was a very successful meeting. The attendees left with the knowledge and an action plan on what to do to help save our great nation.
A take-a-way is that one person can make a difference in the fate of our country. Can you imagine if each of us brought ten more people to the COS movement? If not now, then when? If not you, then who?
After signing the petition below you can access COS resources at this link to spread the news to your neighbors.
