SHOCKING: Congressman suggests banning military from watching Fox News

Published in Blog on March 15, 2023 by Jakob Fay

Nothing scares the D.C. political machine quite like the free flow of information. Heaven forbid the American people should ever get their hands on “dis- or misinformation.” Who knows what sort of pushback against the corrupt political establishment that might cause!

According to a sensationalized fear campaign from VoteVets, a liberal political action committee (PAC), giving our troops the freedom to decide what TV they want to watch might be “anti-American, anti-democracy, [and] anti-military” — specifically if they choose to watch Fox News.

Yes, you read that right.

Letting the military watch Fox News is apparently “anti-American.”

“FOX hosts' election lies and disinformation splits the ranks, hurts unit cohesion, and weakens America's national defense,” VoteVets claimed baselessly on Twitter. “They must be removed from all TVs on military installations NOW.” They then went on to clarify their censorious demands: “The Pentagon has to ban [Tucker] Carlson, [Laura] Ingraham, and [Sean] Hannity from all military facilities, at home and abroad.”

Talk about Orwellian!

To make matters worse, a sitting Congressman, Eric Swalwell (D-CA), has joined VoteVets in publicly suggesting the federal government should consider limiting our troop’s access to Fox.

When asked about imposing congressional oversight on the popular media outlet, Swalwell responded: “I think about our troops, and I’ve been all over the world, and I’ve visited some of our troops in some of the harshest places. And nothing makes them feel more like home than their access to American television programming, and a popular channel is Fox News,” he admitted. “I don’t want to get into the business of telling troops what they can and cannot watch, but if you have a news station that a court is going to rule is, in its evening hour, perpetuating dis and misinformation, I don’t know if I disagree with VoteVets who was saying that we need to take a look at how this is being broadcast to our troops.”

Our government is looking for any excuse to subvert the Constitution, flout the First Amendment, and limit our access to information. Remember, Newsmax has already been banned from live TV this year. And now they’re coming after Fox. We must realize that this is so much bigger than so-called “misinformation” — this is about dictating Newspeak; it’s about censoring anyone who dares question the government-controlled political narrative.

We must speak up against our corrupt government while we still can. And louder than ever before. To join us in ending federal tyranny, sign the Convention of States petition below, and get involved today.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
