The recent Convention of States Reclaiming Liberty Leadership Summit in Orlando, Florida culminated with an evening of awards for many passionate volunteers from across the nation.
Of all the awards presented, one was uniquely presented to one individual.
The Outstanding Volunteer of 2022 was awarded to COS Virginia's own Russ Beyer!
My time in the Navy gave me an opportunity to see over 20 countries and confirm that our form of government is superior to all others in many ways. As a helicopter pilot, you are always looking for a place to land in case of mechanical failure. But if you didn't have confidence of making it to your destination, you would never climb in. So you learn to become "cautiously optimistic"...always looking for plan B or the back door.
I was initially opposed to an Article V convention and thought that the 10th amendment was the way to get the government back on the rails. But some folks at The Middle Resolution made a COS presentation and gave me some people to talk to. I learned I was wrong and signed with COS.
I do this because I want my children and grandchildren to know that I did everything I could to leave the country to them better than we found it.
As Regional Captain, Russ has worked numerous events collecting petitions. He's contacted numerous petition signers to thank them for supporting Convention of States. He's met with numerous legislators to seek their support for the COS resolution.
Russ has also creatively educated the public about how Convention of States has the ability to restrain the power in Washington, D.C.
His COS frames were quite popular at petition collecting events.
In 2018 Russ led a team of COS volunteers to encourage the New Kent County's Board of Supervisors (BOS) to unanimously approve a resolution supporting a Convention of States.
During the recent lockdowns Russ was part of the Sounds of Freedom in Richmond, or as he called it, the Honk Rally.
Russ can be seen flying the COS flag on the back of his truck.
Congratulations, Russ!
