August 15, 2020, was a busy day for Convention of States volunteers across Virginia, most of whom promoted COS at the "Unassembled Convention" spread throughout the Commonwealth. You can read all about that here.
Meanwhile Jody Martin, COS Regional Captain for the James River Region, promoted Convention of States at the Roanoke Gun Show.
Being a one-man team, he turned himself into a human bulletin board.
Expecting a large crowd of interested self-governing activists, Martin laid out five clipboards full of COS petitions, along with plenty of material explaining how Convention of States is the solution as big as the problem in Washington, D.C.
At one point in the show, all five clipboards were simultaneously in use, as the grassroots signed their name to the COS petition, which is then forwarded to their state legislators, asking them to use their unique role in calling a Convention of States.
By the end of the day Martin counted 184 petitions, about 50 shy of 50,000 petition signatures for Virginia.
The next day local COS volunteers who had been busy at the Unassembled Convention helped Martin at the gun show.
The volunteers not only promoted Convention of States, but eagerly kept track of the number of petitions so that they could announce petition signer number 50,000!
