FLORIDA PATRIOTS!
Our Founding Fathers knew this day would come! How did they know? These learned young men had studied not only Greek and Roman civilizations but also had a thorough knowledge of the Bible. They knew because they had already seen the historical evidence that power corrupts! It's Intoxicating! There is nothing within men or women strong enough to prevent the temptation from power corrupting anyone!
You see, and you know it’s true. Power corrupting human beings is nothing new.
To limit the disruptive influence of absolute power our Constitutionalists created those wonderful "Checks and Balances." Unfortunately, as early as 1803 the Supreme Court established judicial review in the case of Marbury v. Madison. This allows the court to declare congressional legislation unconstitutional.
Still, some balance was maintained for about 125 years. Then in the early 1900s Supreme Court rulings started eroding those checks and balances between branches of government. It was a very slow process and as time went by more and more political influence took over.
Foreseeing this inevitable path propelled unanimous agreement on September 15, 1787, when our Founders added the second clause to Article V. We the People, through our state representatives, WE have the power to add amendments that our corrupt federal government will not pass.
WE know that term limits, fiscal restraint, and less federal overreach are imperative to return our country to it's intended balance of power.
Florida has passed a resolution calling for a Convention of States to debate these related amendments, but we still need to show our representatives in Tallahassee that We the People strongly support this movement when it comes time for ratification. We need to make sure new representatives understand Article V and are prepared to combat irrational objections.
You can do your part by joining us in Tallahassee at the Rally in Tally (April 4, 2023 8am - 4pm) to show our state government that the citizens of Florida still support Convention of States!
