California Rep. Nancy Pelosi announced on Friday that she will run for reelection in the 2024 election cycle, seeking her 20th term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
At the age of 83, Pelosi said "age is relative," adding that she considers anyone who is younger than her a kid.
"Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery. Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL," Pelosi said. "That is why I am running for reelection — and respectfully ask for your vote."
"Now more than ever." Same spiel, different year. You'd think after 37 years in office she would have already advanced San Francisco's values. But nope, it's time to eye another term.
By declaring her reelection bid, Pelosi virtually has the seat secured for another two years, which means she will likely reach the 40-year mark. However, she's still not the longest-serving member of Congress. That accolade belongs to Democrat John Dingell of Michigan, who served 59 years in the House.
The average American is 20 years younger than the average representative in the U.S. Congress, according to data. From the cost of living to technological advancements, the world is a much different place than it was 40 years ago when the average member of Congress was 18 years old. It's time we put term limits on elected officials who have made Washington their home.
Constitutional attorney and COS supporter Jenna Ellis reacted to the news on Friday afternoon, pointing her followers to the Convention of States movement for an appropriate solution.
Can we PLEASE get term limits or a constitutional amendment on maximum age qualification?

Pelosi has made a name for herself when it comes to stock trading with her remarkable record. A stock tracker social media account that monitors her trades shared details on her unexplainable wealth, which stands around $120 million with just $5.8 million in estimated lifetime earnings.
Convention of States is a movement of millions working to implement term limits and other power restraints on the federal government through a state-held convention. Using Article V of the Constitution, We the People can propel positive change to the D.C. landscape.
