A federal appeals court upheld the state sovereignty of Tennessee and Kentucky on Thursday by allowing their bans on minor transgender treatments, like puberty blockers and surgery, to remain in place.
In a 2-1 vote, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati denied a challenge brought by the leftist organization American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and families with transgender children. Notably, the ACLU is opposed to Convention of States, a state-empowering endeavor.
"The disastrous impact of Tennessee’s law and all others like it has already been felt in thousands of homes and communities. Denying transgender youth equality before the law and needlessly withholding the necessary medical care their families and their doctors know is right for them has caused and will continue to cause serious harm," the ACLU said Thursday in a statement.

In announcing the court's decision, mainstream news outlet Reuters wrote, "Appeals court upholds Tennessee, Kentucky bans on transgender care for minors." The Washington Post called it "trans youth health care."
The heart of the cultural problem lies in what exactly these medical treatments are – care or abuse? Proponents say it reaffirms one's identity while critics say it mutilates a child's body and furthers what is really a mental instability.
The Reuters article circulated across mainstream media with its slanted angle:
"Mainstream U.S. medical associations say gender-affirming care is appropriate and potentially life-saving treatment for gender dysphoria, or distress caused by the mismatch between transgender people's sex assigned at birth and their gender identity."
The problem Reuters and other major political players don't understand is that no one cares about "mainstream" anymore. In fact, Americans don't want "mainstream," they want the truth.
We have woken up to the concept that mainstream medicine, media, and other supposedly "respected" institutions aren't as trustworthy as once thought. The trust is gone and it's not coming back anytime soon.
What's still here is state sovereignty. This win for Tennessee and Kentucky further empowers the people and state legislatures to make decisions at the local level. The feds in Washington can drive our country into chaos, but the states have the opportunity to fight back with Article V.
