Alarming: Federal regulatory agencies arming up

Published in Blog on April 27, 2023 by Brianna Kraemer

There are now more federal agents with arrest and firearm authority (200,000) than U.S. Marines (186,000), according to a new report.

Federal agencies are stocking up on firearms, ammunition and other military-style equipment in a bizarre look for government regulatory matters.

As reported by OpentheBooks.com, 103 rank-and-file agencies outside the Department of Defense have spent $3.7 billion on military-style equipment since 2006. At first thought, that might not seem odd, but it becomes abnormal when learning what administrative agencies are purchasing the supplies: Environment Protection Agency (EPA), Social Security Administration (SSA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Health and Human Services (HHS).

The IRS purchased the most weaponry in the 16-year time frame during Joe Biden's first year in office.

Amounting to $10 million since 2020, IRS purchases include $2.3 million for duty ammunition, $1.2 million for ballistic shields, and $1.3 million for ‘various other gear for criminal investigation agents” – a very non-transparent description.

This data comes as the IRS chief announced that they are adding 600 new special agent positions to the agency. With nearly 2,100 special agents, the IRS ranks in the equivalent of the top 50 largest of 12,261 police departments across the country.

"They want to take away your guns, but government is certainly arming up," OpentheBooks CEO Adam Andrzejewski told Sean Hannity.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Human Services ranks in the top 100 largest of 12,261 police departments across the country, with about 500 special agents employed. Since 2006, HHS spent $154 million on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment. Since 2020, HHS has spent $400K on tactical combat gear, $250,000 on ammunition, and $100,000 on new guns.

Meanwhile, government officials want to take away the public's ability to own firearms – government hypocrisy.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
