Our Patriots Club members are fighting for financial freedom in America

“In reality, there is nothing grassroots about COS,” The Intelligencer claimed last year in an anti-COS hit piece.

Such a statement, of course, is laughably and patently false. As my colleagues and I have reported repeatedly this year, the COS grassroots — real, everyday men and women, many of whom take time off of work to volunteer — have been everywhere these past three months (check those links for yourself — each of them tells a story about the unflagging advocacy of our rank-and-file patriots on behalf of Article V).

Unfortunately, this idea that the grassroots are simply, as one congressperson put it last year, “astroturf” has gained traction among those who oppose our efforts (but, apparently, do not care enough to get to know the grassroots who drive our movement forward). The faintest attempt at real journalism on their part would reveal that these really are real people.

But more than that, these real people are more than willing to give of their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for the COS cause. Yes, their fortunes. Even in a punishing economy, the grassroots have turned out their pockets to sponsor our fight against federal tyranny. When asked why they do it, their answer is simple: because saving liberty in America is worth it.

“I lived in Michigan when I first learned about Convention of States,” recounted one member of the COS Patriots Club. “But it was when I moved to Ohio in 2015 to help take care of my twin grandchildren that I began making monthly donations to and volunteering for COS.”

The COS Patriots Club, sometimes called the monthly donor program, is open to those who chip in $1 a day monthly. Members receive the exclusive COS Patriots Club pin, access to an exclusive donors-only website, and an invite to attend quarterly calls with Convention of States President Mark Meckler.

“Our quarterly calls with Mark are the BEST part of being a monthly donor,” the above supporter expressed. “We get the latest news, and BEST OF ALL, we can ask a question of Mark! As a volunteer, I know volunteers work very hard for a very good reason. Seeing progress with a quarterly conversation with Mark is a BIG thank you that we all appreciate!”

“I was an Idaho state legislator in 2016,” added another donor, “and I know how important it is to pass an Article V Resolution. By donating to COS, I help Idaho and other states pass the Resolution. The Quarterly Calls are important because we get news directly from COS President, Mark Meckler, and we are encouraged by what we hear.”

The elites in the media and Congress are hell-bent on thwarting our efforts, and one of their new favorite lines of attack is direct slander against the men and women, fathers and mothers, patriots and statesmen, postal workers, school teachers, truck drivers, and military service people who make our movement possible. But every day, the grassroots proves them wrong.

Even more impressive, these everyday heroes of the Republic refuse to back down — even as Tax Day looms. Uncle Sam is already at war with our coffers, and yet, they understand that the fight for fiscal responsibility and financial freedom in America is worth it. Of course, that fight is expensive, time-consuming, and exhausting. But these aren’t your typical summer soldiers or sunshine patriots. They’re dedicated, committed, self-sacrificial, and they know just what freedom costs.

“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly,” said Thomas Paine, “it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.”

Let the media say what they may, but that kind of commitment speaks for itself. The COS grassroots are real people — real, everyday folks who love this country and are willing to sacrifice for it. They understand that the blessings of liberty are in peril, and in order to preserve them for future generations, they are willing to fight. They are willing to lay down their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor.
