WATCH: COS dives headfirst into February surge

Published in Blog on February 04, 2024 by Article V Patriot

Convention of States grassroots supporters are turning out in droves to champion Article V as COS takes state legislatures across America by storm. To stay in the know about our relentless legislative efforts and advocacy, tune in weekly to COS NOW, a video recap highlighting the most significant COS-related news of the week. Alternatively, catch up on these updates right here on the COS blog.

1. Mark Meckler and Jenna Ellis discuss Ron DeSantis Article V announcement

Longtime Convention of States endorser, Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida recently made an Article V announcement that left supporters feeling confused, as it appeared to compete with the already popular Convention of States resolution, rather than uphold it. Convention of States President Mark Meckler joined conservative lawyer Jenna Ellis’s podcast to try and help fans make sense of this bemusing new development from America’s most strongly pro-COS governor.

Listen to their insightful conversation here.

2. Pastor Ben Graham expresses support for Convention of States

Popular evangelical leader who served in the White House, Pastor Ben Graham recently expressed his support for calling an Article V convention, noting that, “this country was founded as ‘We the People’ being the king, instead of the government. Convention of States really brings back the opportunity for us, as ‘We the People,’ to rule and reign.”

Listen to the rest here.

3. New state files COS resolution as grassroots brace for February surge

All hands on deck!

With active COS legislation in 16 states, commissioner legislation in several more, and Capitol Days scheduled throughout the nation, Convention of States is mobilizing the grassroots for a record-breaking February, with an expected surge poised to surpass the already bustling activism and advocacy witnessed in January.

It’s an all-hands-on-deck effort, involving everyone from social media warriors to trained political operatives to block walkers and legislative liaisons, all of whom are focused on one primary objective: securing passage of the COS resolution. And, with more than a dozen states actively considering our application, and unmistakable pressure on others to follow suit, the grassroots have already made tremendous strides toward advancing that goal.

Read about every state with active COS legislation here.

4. Soros-backed lobbyists are DEAD WRONG about COS

How often have we heard that an Article V amendments convention might “run away” or that, paradoxically, such a convention (a constitutional provision, mind you) poses a threat to our Constitution?

While these unfounded fears are often echoed by fringe right-wing groups like the John Birch Society, they are also frequently exploited by lobbyists backed by George Soros as a tool to dissuade lawmakers from endorsing our Article V resolution.

But just how misinformed are these lobbyists? See for yourself here.

All this and more is highlighted on the most recent episode of COS NOW, available below. Ensure you don't miss a single moment of the action by staying tuned to COS NOW!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
