Regional Captain

The Region Captain is a State Leader who oversees a grouping of Districts and their Captains, much the same way the State Director oversees the state, or the way a Regional Director oversees a group of states. It is up to the Region Captain, to provide the education, training, support, information, and guidance necessary for the District Captain to be successful. They also act as the liaison between the State Exec Team, and other State Leaders.

Responsibilities of the Regional Captain include...

  • Recruit and welcome in District Captains
  • Provide tools for training and personal one on one training of all DC’s on the following tools:
    • Legislative Management System (LMS)
    • Follow Up Tool (FUT)
    • Leadership Management Tool (LMT)
  • Host regular monthly or bi-monthly regional calls for DC’s and their teams.
  • Encourage participation in weekly National Calls, Slack, and use of our tools, and in monthly state calls.
  • Deliver action items as requested by SD that were not mentioned at Monthly State Meeting Call.
  • Assist DC’s with events and speaking engagements to build their District Team.
  • Help when events are planned for them to know how to host a table to get petition signers and volunteer sign up.
  • Provide monthly reports to the DC’s on their petition/#’s progress.
  • Be able to provide encouragement, praise, and issue challenges.
  • Assist in Legislative contact, and education by hosting Lobby Days.

Expected commitment level: 10-12 hours a week

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to learn all tools related to the grassroots, then be able to teach others how to use those tools.
  • Must know how to build a team and have a Mentor’s heart for the grassroots.
  • Must be a team player and able to take direction from the State Director.

1/7: How long have you volunteered for Convention of States Project as a District Captain?

2/7: Do you know which House Districts for which this position of Regional Captain is responsible? Have you viewed the area on a map? Are you familiar with those areas?

3/7: As a Regional Captain you will essentially be serving as a team leader of a group of District Captains. How would you describe your leadership style? What traits and skills would you say you possess that would make you a good team leader?

4/7: Regional Captains must serve as a trainer, mentor, problem solver and communication facilitator. Please explain how you would go about fulfilling these roles? Give examples.

Physicians for COS

The diagnosis is clear.

We have a growing cancer today known as the Obamacare. As a result physicians are no longer free to practice medicine.

No profession feels the full force of the federal government more than physicians. The medical profession is the most highly regulated profession in the United States. The practice of medicine is controlled, taxed, and regulated to the point of being destroyed by the heavy hand of the federal government.

Physicians are told how to bill, how much to charge, and how to treat patients. They are mandated to use expensive electronic medical records. The federally enacted HIPPA (Health Information Privacy and Portability Act) makes the communication between physicians and atients burdensome, inefficient,and expensive. Every physician is required by federal mandate to register with the government to obtain an NPI (national provider identifier.) We are required by federal law to obtain and pay for a license to prescribe medication through the DEA, which is separate from our state licensure.

This heavy hand of government not only oversees the largest federal health bureaucracy ever created, but by extension reaches into every state, every city, and every small town to regulate how every licensed physician practices the art of medicine and how citizens obtain care.

The treatment is also clear.

The prescription for a cure was written into our constitution by our founders. Article V of our constitution allows for the states to call for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government through the proposal of constitutional amendments. Physicians should be the strongest supporters of this brilliantly-crafted states’ rights tool placed into our constitution by our founders.

I urge my fellow American physicians to join with me in supporting an Article V Convention of States to take back control of the practice of medicine. It’s the only way that we can return the practice of medicine back to the intimate relationship between a doctor and patient without interference by the heavy hand of a distant, national government.
