Published in Blog on June 05, 2023 by Jakob Fay

Here's your Monday recap of the latest COS headlines. Listen to all of these stories here!

1. Kirk Cameron releases new book on humility, countering pride movement

To counter the profane LGBT cultural propaganda progressives force into all aspects of life every June, actor, author and Convention of States endorser Kirk Cameron has prepared an opposing message in his second children's book, "Pride Comes Before the Fall."

Cameron's new book teaches an important lesson about humility and the wickedness of pride, the first of several upcoming children's books on the seven deadly sins by the conservative publishing company Brave Books.

2. The Feds’ terrifying cure to loneliness

Loneliness is epidemic in America, and one of many problems that cannot be solved by the government but at the hands of a self-governing and responsible people.

Unfortunately, our loneliness is so out of hand, the Feds are now stepping in to “help.”

3. 18 governors challenge Biden policy that penalizes financially responsible Americans

Governors from 18 states sent a letter to President Biden on Wednesday asking him to revoke a new housing policy that forces people with good credit scores to subsidize mortgage loans of higher-risk borrowers.

As first reported by The Center Square, Governors Mike Parson and Brian Kemp are leading the resistance against the 'backward policy' that "only serves to punish hard-working Americans.

4. This is why parental rights are so important (and why they’re under attack)

Do you know what your kids are being taught? Are you aware of the true condition of their schools?

According to Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the religious liberty advocacy group formerly chaired by Convention of States co-founder Michael Farris, a school district in Florida worked with a 13-year-old girl to conceal her sexual orientation from her parents.

They went so far as to use the girl’s preferred pronouns (“they/them”) in front of her, but different pronouns when the girl’s parents were around.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
