Who's running the White House?

Published in Blog on June 21, 2024 by Jakob Fay

From hosting press conferences with Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, Matthew McConaughey, and Mark Hamill to conducting interviews with Cardi B and Dylan Mulvaney, the Joe Biden administration has routinely prioritized pandering over substance. In case you had forgotten, remember, the world is at war, our enemies are aligning against us, millions of illegal immigrants, including terrorists, are pouring across our borders, and the U.S. economy is on the rocks. And what do we get from Biden to placate our discontent? Cringe-inducing dad jokes from “Star Wars” star Mark Hamill, the male version of a Karen, about—drumroll, please—“Joe-bi Wan Kenobi.”

Needless to say, I thought I had seen it all.

Until a bearded man in a dress hosted a White House press conference fielding questions about his luscious locks.

This week, Vice President Kamala Harris welcomed the all-gay cast of “Queer Eye” to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for a giddy, giggly, squealing session of LGBTQ+ advocacy, patriarchy-busting, and Planned Parenthood-fawning. They might as well have purchased a billboard declaring, “We Are Deeply Unserious People.”

“I’ve never experienced intimidation in a bathroom in the way that I did in Vegas,” said lead actor Jonathan Van Ness about a time he, the bearded man, used the women’s restroom in Sin City. “It made me think about people who have had horrific things happen to them in bathrooms, but then queer people are the ones scapegoated for these instances. It’s really the patriarchy and this toxic structure of the binary that we have to exist within.”

Yes, he really uttered those words… in the White House, nonetheless.

He and Kamala also extolled Planned Parenthood for “giving people dignity.”

Ahem. Moving on.

Apparently, someone thought it would be a good idea to hand Van Ness the White House Briefing Room microphone. To be clear, they weren’t exactly wrong. I mean, when was the last time you watched an entire Karine Jean-Pierre press conference? (I don’t think I ever have.) But then there’s this guy, flipping his mermaid hair like he’s in a wind tunnel. I have to admit, it’s kind of entertaining.

Kind of entertaining… but mostly just disturbing.

In another controversial scene, viewers noticed that when Van Ness referred to Kamala as “Madam Vice President,” the official White House video caption (mistakenly?) dubbed her “Madam President.”

Whoops.

In truth, I can think of no better word to describe the whole debacle: whoops. As a citizen of this great nation and an admirer of the office of the president, the antics of our “leaders” in Washington give me second-hand embarrassment. I want to feel proud of this nation—I really do. But the more we prioritize LGBTQ+ pride over national pride, the harder it becomes; the more it reveals just how unserious our leaders are.

Unless you trust those people to fix our federal government and preserve our country, it may be wise to look elsewhere for solutions.

Faith in the federal government is running low, and it’s easy to see why. Meanwhile, on the grassroots level, millions of patriots are hard at work to enact real, serious solutions to our nation’s problems. To join the movement, sign the Convention of States petition below.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
