Want to learn how to grow your COS team into an active and vibrant group led by engaged district captains? Listen to a master of the process on the latest edition of "Grassroots Groundbreakers" right here.
Barry Newman, Illinois COS Grassroots Coordinator and 2024 COS Volunteer of the Year is the featured guest on this episode, which is entitled "Being the Best at Building the Grassroots Army".
Host and COSA chief grassroots officer Mike Ruthenberg delves into how in just over two years Barry has, through his innovative recruiting, follow-up, and onboarding techniques, built a team that includes 60 active district captains, the largest number in the country.
Barry talks about his researching Article V prior to committing to volunteering, COS becoming his passion and purpose, and how his professional background in human resources management informs his leadership style and ability to recruit, train, and retain leaders to COS who are natural fits with the organization.
"Grassroots Groundbreakers" is an important and informative resource for everyone who is involved with COS.
You won't regret listening to how Barry devised and implemented his intelligent and innovative strategies that are proving successful in producing scores of leaders in Illinois and applicable in every state.
As Barry said during the podcast, COS "is a wonderful cause to help save our beloved republic, and we have the opportunity to actually do it."

Petition your state legislator
Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.
What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.
I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.
I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here:

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
info@conventionofstates.com or (540) 441-7227.
Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
Respectfully, [Your Name]
