The American people must be smart and not fall for the trap, Tulsi Gabbard warns of new legislation to supposedly ban the app Tik Tok.
Disguised as the Restrict Act, the legislation does far more than address national security concerns around the Chinese-owned social media platform. It makes it illegal for Americans to use Tik Tok but it also aims to scrutinize the American people – in the name of security.
"The Democrats and Republicans that have introduced this legislation are trying to market it as something that it's not," said Tulsi Gabbard on Fox News.
Describing the infringements, Gabbard said it gives unfettered power to unelected bureaucrats in the Commerce Department to tell us what social media apps we are allowed to use. Furthermore, it gives the government access to our data, our browsing history, and how we're using different apps on our phones. It even restricts the use of a VPN with what Gabbard said are "some pretty serious consequences."

"This sounds a whole lot like what we saw with the Patriot Act," she declared. "Ultimately we have again, people who took an oath to support and defend our Constitution, our civil liberties, our rights, but they are hell-bent on taking those rights away."
The Restrict Act does a lot more than just make it illegal for Americans to use TikTok. It will give unelected bureaucrats the power to make it illegal for Americans to use any other app or website, monitor our every move, censor our online speech, and crush any dissent, all… pic.twitter.com/G9CLnfkOqC

At the end of the day, the R or D next to a politician's name doesn't matter to members of the Uniparty. It's about maximizing control of the people through "security" measures like the Patriot Act of 2001 and now the Restrict Act of 2023.
