Trump may seek a restraining order against Biden. Here’s why.

Published in Blog on December 17, 2024 by Jakob Fay

President-elect Donald Trump accused Joe Biden of committing “almost a criminal act,” saying he may seek a restraining order against the president following reports that his administration is selling pieces of the border wall at 0.02% of the original cost.

According to an exclusive investigation from The Daily Wire, the government is auctioning unused sections of the wall for as low as $5. An anonymous Border Patrol agent claimed “The goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas.”

“The administration is trying to sell [unused border wall panels] for five cents on the dollar, knowing that we’re getting ready to put it up,” Trump reacted at a press conference. “It’s almost a criminal act. They know we’re going to use it, and if we don’t have it, we’re going to have to rebuild it, and it will cost double what it cost years ago, and that’s hundreds of millions of dollars.”

Additionally, the former president revealed he has spoken to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton about possible legal action, including a restraining order, to block the administration from selling the rest of the wall.

In response to the news, U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt urged the U.S. Department of Defense to “immediately cease the auctioning off of border wall materials.”

“A representative sale on December 11, 2024 concluded with four sections of border wall, accounting for almost 16,000 pounds worth of steel, selling for $105,” he
wrote. “If purely sold for scrap metal at the average cost of $694 per metric ton, the value of this lot is worth $5,219. While recouping less than 0.02 of taxpayer money used to secure these materials, the Biden Administration is sabotaging the incoming Trump Administration just weeks ahead of President Trump’s inauguration.”

“The border wall materials will cost tens of thousands of U.S. taxpayer dollars to replace and will be critical to stem the record flow of millions of illegal immigrants who were welcome across our border during the Biden Administration,” he added.

No doubt, this is one of the most egregious examples of the federal government knowingly sabotaging the will of the people. Gallup reported over the summer that most Americans (55%) wanted less immigration for the first time in nearly two decades. Not only is the lame-duck administration obstructing their demands, they are inflicting needless financial waste on an already financially fraught nation.

We shouldn’t be surprised. Such behavior is not unusual within the federal government. Fortunately, the Founders gave us a way to correct course with an Article V convention.

The Article V convention process allows “We the People,” acting through their state legislatures, to recreate an accountable and responsible federal government, passing amendments to limit federal power, spending, and terms of office.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
