The Florida State Fair 2022

Published in Blog on March 07, 2022 by Nancy Suits

Convention of States Florida went to the 2022 Florida State Fair collecting petition signatures and disseminating information to the masses of people that arrived each year. Unofficial estimates are that almost a half a million people walked through the fair gates.

Florida has a new State Director, Denah Butts. She jumped right into the fun to lead the team  on the mission to spread the news about Convention of States.

Denah said, "It was just heartwarming to hear the National Anthem played over the loudspeakers each morning and to witness everyone stop what they were doing and place their hand over their heart to listen and honor our country.  I loved seeing that! "

Denah rallied the Florida team members who assisted to create excitement and enthusiasm at one of the best tables in the fair to reach, teach and activate!

Our presence for the Convention of States Booth at the Florida State Fair in Tampa, Florida was a huge success.  In addition to petitions, we had many more interested but even more promising to follow-up!

Among the hundreds of petition signatures collected were MANY from out of state, some excitedly from states with pending resolutions, a few of which were very timely in helping West Virginia pass their resolution (just passed on March 4th). Here in Florida we have a unique situation where we can influence many people from the other states, due to our snowbirds, recent influx from shutdown states, and many visitors to our sunny beaches and theme parks.

The Mission: To build the largest and most engaged group of self-governed citizen activists that the world has ever seen for the purpose of restoring the balance of power in America. Whether it be local, state, or federal, all levels of government are in need of repair. Information and education are the tools we need to begin repairs. The Convention of States Florida team is committed to the mission and with Denah as our State Director, we are a growing and vibrant team providing our supporters with the tools and resources to engage in their communities.

The fair runs each year Feb. 10th through Feb. 21st.

Denah and the team created a lot of excitement for the crowds and the Florida team volunteers who came to lend a hand. Many Thanks to the volunteers that came out and gave of themselves (32 in all!). Richard Simo put out his legendary 3000 pages of the Constitution which always brings lots of discussion and comments.

Leaders are the core of this mission. Are you willing to step up and join us?

YOU are the core of the Florida Team. Become a volunteer activist and find out the tools and resources available to you to become an engaged citizen.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
