Most mornings I turn to my Google Echo and say, “Play music.” Mysteriously out of this little box, YouTube music fills the air. After a few songs, the announcer asks me if I would like to upgrade to a premium service that eliminates annoying commercials.
At the end of the announcement I hear, “Terms and conditions apply.” If I commit to upgrading I am agreeing to certain terms and conditions. I must adhere to them, or I will face consequences: cancellation, fines, or fees.
We the People of America need to be the announcers that hold our elected officials accountable to the “terms and conditions” of the oaths they made to uphold the Constitution.
Many elected officials in the federal government are not adhering to these terms and conditions. The terms and conditions are clear: follow and pass laws based on the Constitution-as-written, rather than the Constitution-as-interpreted by activist judges.
We should also adhere to the “terms and conditions” of Article V of the Constitution. When two-thirds of the states pass similar legislation, they can call a convention of states. The Convention of States Action proposal will limit terms of office, federal spending, debt, and regulations. These amendments will hold elected officials accountable and rein in an out-of-control federal government.
What are the “terms and conditions” we should adhere to? Become a volunteer, join the COS Florida team, and share the petition with friends at www.conventionofstates.com.
Let us always be mindful that the strength is us, but nothing will change if citizens do nothing.
