We're very pleased to announce a new endorsement!
Ralph Norman is the U.S. Representative from South Carolina's 5th congressional district, and he wrote us last week expressing his support for the efforts to rein in the scope and jurisdiction of the federal government with a Convention of States.
Our founding fathers knew that government derived its power from those that it governs, and in Article V of the Constitution they specifically expressed the power of the people to propose and pass amendments to the document. By adding congressional term limits to the Constitution, the Convention of the States would be taking power out of Washington and putting it back where it belongs - in the hands of the people.
The people proposing the Convention of States project are using the power afforded to them in Article V to restrain the power, scope, and jurisdiction of Washington D.C., and to rein in the irresponsible spending and politicians that have mired our government in waste and ineffectiveness. I applaud the efforts of those at the Convention of the States project for taking their government into their own hands and attempting to affect real, meaningful change to protect their freedoms.
"We the People" are the first words of our Constitution, and they serve as a reminder on who the government is supposed to serve. The people, not entrenched bureaucrats, are what gives our government power and what makes our nation great. When the people step up and take back this power, it is an embodiment of what our nation's founders envisioned when writing Article V of the Constitution. I fully support the Convention of States and am excited to see meaningful, and long overdue, change occur in our nation.
We're very pleased to have Rep. Norman join the nationwide Article V movement. If you want to join the team in your state, sign the Convention of States Petition below!
