Volunteers with Convention of States Action have their minds set on helping more States pass the resolution to call an Article V convention in accordance with COSA's 3 pillars. Many also share a fixation on the upcoming midterm elections and the forecasted effects upon all States. All COSA grassroots activists are working diligently towards similar, desired outcomes.
But there is something massive in our peripheral. For so many years, while we have been solely traversing tunnels seeking that well lit destination, an incompatible system, with a well defined network of paths, has made its way through our institutions and economy. One could say it has been a steady march persisting for more than just a few decades.
We find traces of engrained, questionable endeavors, that further government overreach, rather than curb it. Maybe we'll stumble upon an article about a State proactively withdrawing an investment to escape some new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) financial fad. Perhaps there is a county plan being approved for a development that would operate 24-hour surveillance in all areas of movement, including inside the home. Or we may learn of a city utility company fitting all home energy systems with usage controls that place personal autonomy second. Are there land zones under review that incorporate environmentally progressive ideas but proceed without adequate modeling to determine the long-term outlook?
There is much talk about Marxism and a new awareness of its pitfalls. For many decades, trails have been tamped down by boots treading what is known as the "long march" of Marxism that has been utilizing Globalist mechanisms that appear benign. Much of what is proposed to better people's lifestyles and reduce negative impacts on the environment also requires substantial regulation and oversight, often from global organizations that, whether overtly or inadvertently, seek to override a nation's sovereignty. Be it someone who had only awakened last month to the behemoth our country is now faced with, or another who has been shooting arrows at it for a decade, it is best to understand how long this adversary has been at work here and what is needed to fight back.
By volunteering with COSA-FL, each of us is given a wealth of resources, tools, and support to learn about our Nation's political system. Grassroots activists that we are, we are also guided to narrow our focus down to our local level. Once inside the workings of our own town's system, we can find a lot of what is right and what is wrong and gather ideas on how to fix it. The wrongs may lead back to an authoritarian bully, but some wrongs will inevitably lead back to trusted leaders and all-American programs. We can create inroads with our local leaders to encourage a more skeptical eye towards those well-meaning initiatives.
A volunteer also has the opportunity to inform and educate their leaders. Establishing communication avenues to discuss the passed COS resolution in Florida is as essential as it would be to persuade another States' leaders to pass it. Either status will benefit from illustrating what it means for the concerns of today once we finally convene as States in accordance with Article V.
Rarely is there ever a single battle with a single conclusion but here we are unified in our well focused intentions and target to reach a Convention by facing many legislative battles, and battles of persuasion, head on. Our awareness that it takes time to achieve this is clear. We possess the knowledge and the endurance, and we will persist in bringing the minimum of thirty-four States to pass the resolution to call this Convention of States in order to save our United States.
