Veterans are some of our most enthusiastic COS supporters. When volunteers are out gathering petitions and explaining how Article V protects the constitution, veterans need little convincing. They understand how the constitution was intended to work and recognize abusive modern interpretations.
COS hopes to call a Convention of States to bring attention to and remedy our drift from the original intentions for the Constitution as written. Term limits, fiscal restraint, and less federal interference in state sovereignty are examples of amendments that would support and defend the constitution. Veterans easily recognize the value of Article V to be a peaceful, legal solution to unconstitutional problems.
Veterans strengthen the framework that holds Florida COS together. More than 23,000 vets are signed up as Florida COS supporters. Out of 619 volunteers, about 170 have taken COS University courses which likely indicates they work in some active role.
We deeply appreciate the service and sacrifices of all our veterans. Below is just a small sample of their COS contributions.
Michael Sanderson values the renewed purpose that his role as Veterans Coalition Director COS FL provides. After serving as an army combat engineer in Hanau, Germany he prospered for many years as a building contractor until old injuries began to cramp his style.
Michael credits Mark Meckler and the Patriot Academy for giving meaning to his retirement activities. Raised in the United Pentecostal Church, his values and his desire to uphold the “oath with no end date” align with COS. By coordinating COS veteran engagement with other organizations, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Michael feels he is activating veterans and citizens to vote their conscience.
Kelly Robbins, former Air Force medic, likes to help out wherever needed. She joined COS under Coach Thomas, Region 3 Captain, and helped recruit new volunteers on his team. Kelly serves as a Tele-Patriot virtually but also assists other volunteers in-person at local events, gun shows, and the Florida State Fair.
Kelly stays connected by attending weekly meetings with the Veterans’ Coalition, Communications Team, and various training or town hall meetings. Kelly looks forward to assisting her newly redistricted- Regional Captain, Kay MacQueen.

Coach Thomas, Region 3 Captain, has collected countless petitions because every weekend he tends his very own COS booth at the Daytona Flea and Farmer's Market.
His army experience prepared him to mentor many volunteers including Kathleen Beck seated behind him.
At the 2022 Leadership Summit, Coach and State Director Denah Butts (standing) received the limited-edition Challenge Coin honoring their impressive contributions.
A few more treasured vets in easy to spot COS roles include:
Len Fritz Director of the Education Coalition
Tanya Kacsan District 19 Captain
Troy Darling District 51 Legislative Liaison
John Vicenti District 104 Captain
Doug Ross District 113 Captain
Karen Wood Jordan Prayer Warrior, DCT, and Follow Up Team
This is merely the tip of our powerful veteran iceberg. If you have served in the armed forces, we thank you for loving your fellow citizens and your country enough to act on your beliefs.
There is still work to be done to maintain the freest country in the world. Join us today as a Tele-Patriot, Social Media Warrior, District Captain, or any other type of volunteer activist.
