Have You Given Your Consent?

Holly, MI -  Join Convention of States for a special informational discussion on reclaiming self-governance and what “consent of the governed” really means! This country requires a change of direction from our federal government as We the American people, the very engine of this grand experiment, are increasingly shut out from the decisions that shape our lives. Convention of States Michigan has the answers as the grassroots movement works to inspire and reclaim liberty.

This public informational forum will be held on Thursday, March 7, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. The meeting is at the Groveland Township Hall, 4695 Grange Hall Road, Holly Michigan 48442.

There is no cost to attend and no RSVP is required. Are you wondering what is going on as our federal government continues to ignore our Constitution? What does “consent of the governed” really mean these days?  Do you feel like there is nothing you can do?  Do you have concerns about what is going on in America? Join in on the discussion and be an active part of the solution!

For anyone who has questions on the convention process, concerns about a “runaway convention”, or wants insight into what Article V is all about, please join us for this crucial informational forum. The Convention of States Project has a legal solution as big as the problem.

"Our cause is the cause of all mankind…we are fighting for their liberty in defending our own."

- Benjamin Franklin

What is the Convention of States?

Article V of the U.S. Constitution provides for two ways to amend the nation’s governing document. The most common way is for the U.S. Congress to propose amendments. However, George Mason and some of the other delegates to the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia recognized that a time might come when Congress might be hostile to the will of the People. So, they added a second method to amend the Constitution that more directly reflects the will of the People.

This method allows two-thirds (34) of the legislatures of the several States to pass a Resolution that calls for a convention of all the States to consider proposed amendments.

When two-thirds (34) of the states pass the Resolution, Congress must set a time and place for a convention of all 50 states to suggest amendments to the Constitution within the framework of the Resolution. Any amendments coming out of the convention would then have to be ratified by three-fourths (38) of the State legislatures to become an Amendment.

The Resolution has already passed in 19 states. Several states are expected to and already voting in 2024. https://conventionofstates.com/states-that-have-passed-the-convention-of-states-article-v-application
