Pro-life activist sentenced to 41 months, claims Christian faith is behind her prosecution

Published in Blog on August 01, 2024 by Jakob Fay

Pro-life activist Bevelyn Beatty Williams faces more than three years in prison after preaching the Gospel and protesting outside of an abortion clinic in Manhattan. Under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) secured a 41-month sentence for the 33-year-old stay-at-home mother.

Biden’s DOJ has accused Williams of physically blocking members of the office from entering the clinic and threatening the chief administrative officer. However, Williams argues that she is being targeted solely because of her faith and pro-life convictions.

“I was persecuted as a Christian standing for my beliefs when it comes to life,” she stated. “This is devastating news.”

She claimed that the judge overseeing the case “made it very clear” she wanted to make an example of the young, pro-life mother.

“[The judge] told me before sentencing me that I was young and that I would not be defined by my sentence, before making a conscious decision to take me away from my two-year-old daughter for three years.”

This would not be the first time the DOJ has brought the weight of its prosecutorial power to bear against everyday pro-life citizens.

Last month, the department sentenced 75-year-old Paula Paulette Harlow to two years in jail for participating in a “conspiracy” to block abortion clinics in Washington, D.C. Earlier this year, the Biden administration charged six pro-lifers from Tennessee for violating FACE at a peaceful protest outside an abortion clinic in 2021. Each defendant currently faces over a decade in prison. In 2022, an armed FBI SWAT team, with rifles in the firing position, forced its way into a family’s home to arrest a nonviolent pro-life dad.

There’s no question about it: the federal government is out of control, and the so-called Department of Justice serves as its war department against the American people. It is unacceptable that pro-life Americans should have to fear standing up for a cause as important as human life — but that is precisely the point: the Biden administration wants to intimidate us into silence.

The problem is out of hand, but with an Article V convention, we can rein in the federal government, shrinking it back into its constitutional box. Join millions of grassroots American patriots in advocating for fiscal restraint, term limits, and other limits on federal power by signing the Convention of States petition below.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
