What is it about Florida that has attracted 259,480 new residents in the last year?
Aside from the sunshine and beaches, what is it about Florida that makes it the leading state for migration and immigration? Could it lie in the fact that the Sunshine state has been standing firm as a bastion against the overreach of the federal government in terms of vaccination and mask mandates?
Florida has been named the number one state in that statistic, with Texas coming in second.
We are fortunate to have legislators who see and foster the bigger picture of state sovereignty in terms of economy, children's psychological well-being, and private enterprise.
Perhaps too, the example set as the third state to pass the Convention of States resolution is drawing liberty loving people from the northern states and abroad to the freedom-haven of a Floridian paradise.
Florida is booming with new clinics, singular homes, and apartment complexes being built at break-neck pace!
Yes, life is good under the palms for many reasons... We have an army of volunteers working hard to end federal overreach and authoritarian policy making, countless beaches and ocean front views galore, but most of all I believe the magic of Florida's attraction is found in the "vibe" of her people.
The only complaint about Florida living at the present time is the unusually long cold spell (cold for Floridians, still tropical paradise for our northern neighbors).
With Springtime just around the corner, our new residents will soon be initiated into the essence of Florida which most permanent residents don't talk about much: The extreme heat and humidity lasting until September.
Florida rewrites the axiom of being, "A nice state to visit but I wouldn't want to live there" to, "It's a nice state to live in, and when it gets too hot, I can always migrate north... until September!"
Of course, many of our snowbirds (as we call those who arrive for the colder months, then flock north for the hotter months) make sure to remain in Florida long enough to take advantage of our lack of state income tax, which means they are also voting here. We pray they do so with a keen eye toward self-governance.
Convention of States Action will continue to stand strong for Floridians' rights for self-governance and we invite each and everyone of you to get involved.
