The American people aren't content to sit on the sidelines. Especially when it comes to their children, the men and women of this country are ready to stand up and do something about the elitist takeover of our nation's schools.
That's the bottom line of a new poll conducted by Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group.
When asked what parents should do who oppose Critical Race Theory being taught in schools, 51.8% of respondents said children should either be removed from public school or the school board should be replaced. Only 29.1% said students should remain in school and be taught their parents' views at home.
"Poll after poll shows that parents are exceptionally angry at schools teaching state sponsored racism disguised as ‘Critical Race Theory’, so we wanted to discover what parents believe should be done. A majority feel so strongly about this issue, they either advocate taking over the local school board and reversing this trend, or pulling their kids out of school altogether in favor of private, religious, or homeschool,” said Mark Meckler, President of Convention of States Action." “Republicans are even more intense about taking action, and clearly are not going to sit on the sidelines this fall.”
Party affiliation changes these numbers dramatically. Among Republicans, 71.3% would either remove their children from school or take over the school board while only 12.9% would keep their kids in school. By contrast, 36.2% of Democrats would keep their kids in school while only 43.7% would remove their kids or go after the board.
Despite the contrast between parties, this poll demonstrates clearly that a majority of Americans still believe in self-governance. When Americans see a problem, they work to fix it -- they don't just sit on the sidelines and hope for the best.
That's why the Convention of States Project seeks to shift the balance of power from Washington, D.C., to the states. It's almost impossible for everyday Americans to enact change at the federal level. Washington is too far away, and our "representatives" are too mired in the swamp. At the state and local levels, however, we've seen We the People rise up to fight draconian lockdowns, unreasonable health mandates, unsecure election systems, and now, Critical Race Theory.
These campaigns have been successful because it's much easier to organize and enact change and the local and state levels. If we can strip the federal government of its power and return that power to the states, everyday Americans will have more control over their lives, and they'll be able to craft the policies and laws that impact their families most.
