You're likely one of the 77% of Americans who say alternative news media sources and podcasts are important to keep the public fully informed, according to a new poll from the Trafalgar Group in partnership with Convention of States Action.
As the mainstream media spread has grown more deceitful in its reporting, Americans have opted to find alternative platforms that better relay information without an ulterior agenda.
Both Republicans and Democrats overwhelmingly support alternative media for keeping an informed public, with a whopping 92% of Republican voters saying alternative sources are important compared to 62.7% of Democratic voters.
Thankfully, the options are endless and open the door to new thoughts, ideas, and narratives. As COS President Mark Meckler points out, the free exchange of ideas is fundamental to our nation.
"President Obama’s recent comments lamenting that there are too many news outlets and differing opinions once again reveals how out of touch political insiders are to the rest of the nation," said Mark Meckler. "As this poll shows, Americans want and respect debate and different points of view, while D.C. politicians and bureaucrats see that as a threat."
Unrestrained access to all sides of the story is essential in order to make educated judgments – exactly why our government and media don't appreciate genuine communication.
When We the People have unrestricted access to information, we become more disgusted by our own government.
