Pelosi sneaks through bill that would give feds "oversight" of state elections

Published in Blog on September 03, 2021 by Article V Patriot

The tragic mishandling of the situation in Afghanistan has, ironically enough, given D.C. politicians plenty of cover to sneak through other measures that would be opposed by a majority of Americans.

One of those was passed by the Democrat-controlled House last week.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would give Joe Biden's Justice Department the ability to police new changes to voting laws in states that have racked up a series of “violations,” drawing them into a mandatory review process known as “preclearance.”

In other words, states would be unable to pass election integrity laws without getting the say-so of deep state operatives in D.C.

This measure, combined with a bill Mark Meckler has called the Death of Democracy Act, would give the federal government total and absolute control over virtually every election in our country. The Death of Democracy Act mandates universal mail-in balloting and ID-less voting, and the John Lewis amendment prohibits states from instituting security measures without getting approval from politicians like Pelosi.

This is precisely why we need to call the first-ever Article V Convention of States. The federal government will use any excuse to increase their power. About the same percentage of black Americans as white Americans vote in presidential elections, and black Americans vote at higher rates than any other minority group. And yet, big-government politicians in D.C. cry "voter suppression" and use that lie as an excuse to grab more power for themselves.

An Article V Convention of States can end that power-grab once and for all. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.

What does this mean? It means that the states can propose amendments that put real, permanent limitations on federal power. In our federalist system, the states are supposed to control the election process. Amendments can be proposed that clarify that truth and explicitly prohibit Washington from passing laws that infringe upon that right.

If we want to ensure that We the People stay in control of our elections, we must shrink federal power. To join the five million Americans who are doing just that, sign the petition below!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
