Volunteers from Convention of States Florida were out at the 2020 Florida State Fair collecting petition signatures and disseminating information to the masses of people that arrived at the fair last week.
Unofficial estimates are that almost a half a million people walked through the fair gates.
Along with Regional Captain Dennis Darragh, 18 different volunteers showed up to help with the cause. COS Florida Follow-Up Team leader and District Captain Donnie Rutherford was an indispensable part of the action! State Director Richard Simo put in his usual full-hearted support of time, money, and information.
Many Thanks to the volunteers that came out and gave of themselves:

This was the first day I ever went to where volunteers were charged at the gate. Our volunteers graciously took it upon themselves to pay the going rate. An awesome showing of volunteers made this whole thing possible.
We amassed over 1,100 total petition signatures, with 180 of them being from out of state. Here in Florida we have a unique situation where we can influence many people from the states up north, since this is a refuge from the weather at this time of year. Many were from states that are hanging on the balance of passing the resolution and joining our movement.
"Sometimes six people were in line to sign the petition!" Dennis said. "It was an amazing event for us and we heard that we may have broken national records."
The COS Florida team likely holds the single-event record for a Passed State, but the Kansas team holds the national record with over 2,000 petitions collected at the 2019 Kansas State Fair.
One might wonder what a "passed state" needs to do after the legislature adopts the resolution. We can stay engaged by attending events such as fairs, gun shows, and community gatherings.
