Sioux Falls hosted the Dakota Territory Gun Show over the weekend of February 13-14, 2021. When local members of the Convention of States movement were notified of an opportunity to have a booth there, they jumped at the chance to be present.
With only a few days notification, several volunteers came forward to help. For many of these volunteers, it was their first time being part of the grassroots movement in promoting the Convention of States mission.
The gun show had more than 400 vendors, and Saturday estimated over 5,000 people attended the event. There were many people who stopped by the booth and for some it was their first exposure to COS.
Attendees were able to take home a wide variety of printed information regarding COS and were able to ask questions regarding the process.
One woman said, "I had heard about a Convention of States and wanted to know more about it."
Another man came by and as soon as he saw the booth he said that he had heard about COS four years ago and was against it. He then said that over these years his opinion has changed and he now knows that his is our last chance to make a difference. He immediately signed a petition.
People who were from South Dakota were happy to hear about the upcoming bill SJR 502 scheduled for the Senate State Affairs Committee hearing on February 25.
The gun show was wonderful opportunity to meet new people and share with them the progress that is being made not only in South Dakota but across this country.
There were several people from other states that also stopped by to sign petitions. Numerous vendors came from outside the area and some said they hailed from places ranging form Minnesota and Wisconsin to Illinois and Colorado.
For those from out of state, their signatures will be forwarded to their respective states to show the support for a Convention of States across the map.
You can join the movement today. Sign the petition and help us stand for liberty!
