The Montana Convention of States (COS) team held a two-day event at the Montana State Capitol in mid-January, bringing together passionate supporters of the movement to advocate for an Article V convention!
The event featured prominent guest speaker Michael Farris, a leading voice for COS, who underscored the urgent need for federal reform. Farris, an attorney and co-founder of Convention of States Action, shared his vision of using Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose amendments that would impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power, and impose term limits on Congress. His speech resonated with the attendees, who are advocating for Montana to join other states in calling for an Article V convention to restore balance to the federal system.
Throughout the event, Montana grassroots activists participated in educational sessions and discussions on how an Article V convention could serve as a tool for citizens to reclaim control over their government. The momentum built during the two-day gathering highlighted growing support within Montana for the COS movement.
Advocates emphasized that an Article V convention would offer a peaceful, constitutional means of addressing the nation’s increasing deficit, overreach, and political gridlock. There were a total of 30 people at the dessert event, with 24 being volunteers. Those 24 volunteers also were at the rally. Farris’s involvement and the robust turnout signaled a significant step forward in building a coalition of states ready to push for this groundbreaking constitutional process.
