March Madness! "Tournament of government waste" highlights the most insane taxpayer-funded projects

Published in Blog on March 28, 2019 by Article V Patriot

Do pampered cats suffer from fewer hairballs?

How good was wine in the Soviet Union?

Why do classic videos games have glitches?

Why are birds good at gambling?

Maybe you're interested in the answers to these questions. Many people likely are. But should taxpayers spend millions of dollars to determine those answers?

Or, should taxpayer money be spent on studies that actually benefit American citizens? Like, maybe, curing cancer? Or developing cheaper medication?

That was the theme of a recent segment on Fox & Friends, and you won't believe the final bill on some of these ridiculous studies.

Concerned politicians and citizens have been highlighting these studies for years. But it hasn't done any good. Congress continues to appropriate money to these and other wasteful studies and programs, and they don't seem to have any desire to change.

That's why the American people have to force their hand. An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments.

These amendments, once ratified by 38 states, can force Congress to be fiscally responsible by mandating a balanced budget, capping spending, and limiting taxation.

It's time for the federal government to stop acting like a thoughtless teenager with their parent's credit card. They need some real discipline, and we can give them just that with a Convention of States.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
