Convention of States Kansas volunteer Angel Cushing was recently featured in the EC Kansas News. Click here to read more.
Angel Cushing might be a small farmer, but she has a big problem with what she perceives to be absurd and dangerous over-regulation of agriculture.
Cushing raises goats in northern Lyon County. Because her operation occupies less than 40 acres, she is required to show the agricultural use of her property. It’s a regulation she stumbled across in 2017 and has been researching and making her objections known."It is really, really hard to not make the zoning a focus of why Convention of States is important. To a crowd of farmers, that grabs their attention and that is what they want to talk about." Lyon County Goat Producer and long time volunteer for Convention of States, Angel Cushing told other COS volunteers.
"It feels like a new climate we are in. New, because there is so much more enthusiasm in the people than we have ever seen and because it has become a personal battle to save our farm.
"Suddenly, COS is no longer about what is the right thing to do. It's now personal. It isn't just my future at stake. It is my absolutely-right-now. My husband and I are under attack. Federal grants are being used to push extreme agendas through Planning and Zoning here in Lyon County Kansas.
"Convention of States is the best weapon we have. We now look at COS through a new perspective."
