Defending America and answering your call of duty takes five simple steps, as detailed by Lt. Col. Allen West at the COS Summit last week in Orlando, Florida.
We’ve completely forgotten what liberty is, Colonel West told the crowd. In today’s age, it’s easy to be submissive and allow the government's abuses to continue on. The difficult part, and what progressives fear, is standing up and fighting to reclaim liberty.
“So if you're telling me that I'm a threat to democracy what you're telling me is I'm a threat to tyranny and I, I'm happy to be a threat to tyranny.
Talking to hundreds of COS leaders, Colonel West detailed how to step up to the plate with great leadership on the battlefield.
1. Courage – “Courage means that sometimes you got to stand alone. Courage means that you don't want to go with the flow,” he said.
2. Competence – With courage comes a necessity for competence. “You can be the most courageous person, but if you're a dummy…Tell me how many people will follow a dummy in combat?”
3. Commitment – “If you're going to have a call to duty, what are you committed to?” COS is committed to the US Constitution and defending the freedom and independence of Americans.
4. Conviction – “If you're committed to something then you're convicted to it. When people get out there and start calling you names, you should step right up into that and fire even more.”
5. Character – Perseverance produces character. “Character means doing what is right when no one's watching. When the state director’s not watching, you're going to do what's right. When the regional director’s not watching you're going to do what's right.”
Why do what’s right? Because you have the five C’s.
“You have the courage to do what's right. You have the competence to do what's right. You have the commitment to do what's right. You have the conviction to do what's right. Therefore, you're going to have the character to do what's right.”
And therefore, the COS grassroots organization will come together and light a fire on this nation. This crisis we face in America today will fade away with strong people who follow these five C’s.
“America is great because ordinary people answer the call of duty and step up and do extraordinary things. America is great because God does not call the equip. He equips those that he calls," concluded the Colonel.
