District Captain Matthew Cooper led his district in the fight for liberty over the weekend, despite the Purple Tier 1 status that the state has designated for Sonoma County.
Matthew was joined by team members David Martin, Justin Romeo, Carolyn Harris, and Freeman Harris.
California has been under some form of lockdown since the beginning of the "15 days to Slow the Spread," initiated in March of 2020. From the County of Sonoma’s Roadmap to Reopening site:
“Under the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, every county in California is assigned to a tier based on its rate of new cases, overall testing positivity, and the testing positivity of its residents with access to the fewest socioeconomic resources. At a minimum, counties must remain in a tier for at least 3 weeks before moving forward. Data is reviewed by the State weekly and tiers are updated on Tuesdays. To move forward, a county must meet the next tier’s criteria for two consecutive weeks. If a county’s metrics worsen for two consecutive weeks, it will be assigned a more restrictive tier.”
Freedom won the day for Matthew and his team at the booth where they set up to gather petition signatures to support Article V and Convention of States. When asked how the first event of the year went for he and his team, Matthew had this to say:
“So....it went great! Every single one of my volunteers did an excellent job speaking to people, answering questions, and being a functional part of the Convention of States team. I couldn’t have done it without them, and they were wonderful. We were able to educate tons of people on Convention of States, and we got 20 paper signatures and an undetermined amount of electronic signatures. Overall it was an incredible success!”
Amazing! California residents are tired of the tyranny at all levels of government, and that fact was on display Sunday in Sonoma County.
One visitor to the booth was quoted as having said, “I came out because of the email I received notifying me of the event.” He came out looking to meet up with the solution to the problem in Washington, D.C.
Californians are tired of the overreach and abuse of power that we have been living under for so long. This past year has only seen it get terribly worse. We are hungry for solutions that will work for the people.
Convention of States is that solution, and Article V is the tool the Founders gave us to make it happen.
