If you are the self-governing citizen patriot that we presume you to be, you are well aware that our state lawmakers are busy in Tallahassee making some very important decisions on behalf of us, the Florida citizens. However, you may not be the legislative geek that many of our full-time COS volunteers are in that you don’t scour through the State House and Senate websites, http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/ and https://www.flsenate.gov/ daily. We encourage you to click and explore those sites if you have not done so in the past, but we warn you; the sheer amount of information available can be overwhelming.
This is why Convention of States Florida leadership is working on building a team of state legislative experts. They can make themselves available to anyone here in Florida who would like to know what has been going on in our State Capitol all during this session. We also want to invite you to join us in a state wide Homecoming project. COS district captains will be arranging to host a gathering to welcome the Representative and/or Senator that serves the district in which you live. There, we can give him or her an opportunity to share the accomplishments they made during this year’s session as well as their hopes for the next session. We will take that opportunity to offer gratitude and praise for their service to the people of their district.
Of course, we will make sure we have time carved for discussion on our planned effort to prepare for the next upcoming phase in The Article V Process to hold a Convention of States. In 2019, we must ask our state lawmakers to make necessary changes to the Florida statutes so that our state will be ready and able to send a proper number of commissioners who are qualified to attend and contribute to this most historical event ever to be culminated by the largest grassroots effort that this country has ever seen.
