A new report from CNN (of all places) has revealed that President Joe Biden has taken a full 35 personal trips since taking office and spent a whopping 108 of his first 276 days in office at one of his Delaware homes or at Camp David in Maryland.
Sixty-nine of those 108 days away from Washington were spent at his home in Wilmington, spread over 23 visits; seven days at his Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, beach house over two visits; and 32 days at Camp David over 10 visits.
The mainstream media blasted former President Donald Trump for taking time off, but Biden has surpassed his predecessor: Trump spent only 61 days away from the White House at the same point in his presidency.
This issue isn't just academic. Our country has suffered from Biden's lack of leadership throughout his presidency, and his absence during the Afghanistan debacle demoralized our troops and contributed to the chaos of that surrender.
Other presidents would no doubt take less time off than our current "Commander in Chief," and we should do everything we can to elect competent, hardworking presidents.
But there's a deeper issue at work. Would Biden take so many vacation days if he felt more beholden to the American people? If he understood that his power comes from We the People, would he be willing to shirk his duties and "work remotely"?
We don't think so. The underlying problem is that our federal officials believe they are immune from being held accountable to We the People. They work for corporate lobbyists, deep state bureaucrats, and big donors. As long as enough Americans can be convinced to reelect them, they feel free to take as many vacation days as they want.
It's time to change the status quo in D.C. They've been allowed to be corrupt and incompetent for too long, and we must begin holding them accountable.
Our most powerful tool is an Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can take away everything our federal politicians love: money, power, and their careers.
Amendments can force Congress to be fiscally responsible and limit taxation. They can limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government and impose term limits on all federal officials.
We the People deserve a president who works for us -- not his own self-interest. If we call a Convention of States, we'll get that president and it won't matter which party he belongs to.
