Trump’s back and he brought his signature radical, extremist, threat-to-democracy agenda with him.
Indeed, the New York Times has sounded the alarm that the "niceties of Donald Trump's first speech as president couldn't mask the darkness within — or the way he views his mission now."
Dun dun duuun!!!!
We should all cower and hide because Hitler 2.0 presides in the White House. His cabinet includes Benito Mussolini, John C. Calhoun, George Wallace, and Darth Vader. Trump’s Death Secretary, Robert “The Grim Reaper” Kennedy, will unleash measles, polio, and the bubonic plague. Meanwhile, Kash Patel, the most unqualified person in the world, has announced an early sabbatical to Moscow to learn at the feet of a certain former KGB officer.
Before a mixed crowd of Nazis, Ku Klux Klansmen, and — wait, that can’t be right — Jews?? the new Führer-in-chief signed a bevy of executive orders that could destabilize the economy, fuel inflation, trigger a massive immigration crisis, and… whoops, wrong president.
In reality, Trump’s day-one executive orders, which earned the raucous approval of his supporters at the Capital One inaugural parade and rally, are aimed at advancing the “common sense” agenda announced during his inaugural address.
With the stroke of his pen, Trump:
- Rescinded 78 Biden-era executive actions
- Prevented federal bureaucrats from issuing regulations until his administration secures “full control” of the government
- Paused federal hirings (excepting the military) until control has been achieved
- Required all federal workers to return to full-time, in-person work immediately
- Directed every federal department and agency to address the “cost of living” crisis
- Withdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement and informed the U.N. of the withdrawal
- Restored freedom of speech and prevented government censorship
- Ended the “weaponization” of the federal government
See, that wasn't so bad, now was it?
Trump later returned to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for more maniacal scheming: pardoning Jan. 6 rioters, declaring a national emergency at the southern border, and designating the Mexican drug cartels “terrorist organizations.”
Altogether, he is expected to sign as many as 100 executive orders within his first day.
Despite the media hysterics about the new president's "extremist agenda," many of his actions, particularly pausing federal regulations and hiring, align with Convention of States’ goal to rein in the federal government. (But then again, they think we're radical, too.) However, it’s important to remember, whether we agree with Trump or not, that executive actions are, ultimately, impermanent. Although many of us would like to imagine that Trump’s second term will result in permanent change in Washington, that certainly wasn’t the case the first time around.
Using Article V of the U.S. Constitution, we can certify federal reform and crush the establishment once and for all. To show your support for the Founder’s constitutional audit clause and urge Trump to do the same, sign the COS petition and open letter to the 47th president of the United States!
