HUGE: States fire back against DOJ interfering at polling sites to 'monitor compliance'

Published in Blog on November 08, 2022 by Brianna Kraemer

It's Election Day in the United States, a time for all Americans to participate in the democratic process by casting a vote!

However, a concerning push for control from the executive branch has been exposed. Election "monitors" are being sent by the federal government to state-run polling locations.

The Justice Department said it will be monitoring compliance with federal voting rights laws in 64 polling locations among 24 states.

"The Justice Department announced today its plans to monitor compliance with federal voting rights laws in 64 jurisdictions in 24 states for the Nov. 8, 2022 general election," the DOJ wrote on Monday, just a day before the elections.

The department lays out all the counties it has determined worth observing, many of which are cities that were highly scrutinized after the 2020 election, including Maricopa County, Arizona, Broward County, Florida, and Fulton County, Georgia. Click here to see if you live in one of the 64 jurisdictions that will be infiltrated by the Biden administration.

Monitors have been warned they are not welcome in certain states, though.

Florida Department of State sent a letter to Biden's DOJ Monday night stating that federal election monitors are banned from going inside polling places. They added that it would undermine trust in the election process and that there's no need for federal intrusion.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft fired back on Twitter as well:

While the U.S. DOJ could clearly learn a lot from Missouri about non-partisanship and how to administer accessible, secure and credible elections, it would be highly inappropriate for federal agents to violate the law by intimidating Missouri voters at the polls on Election Day.

Under Missouri law, the local election authority is empowered to decide who, other than voters and poll workers, may be at polling locations. Cole County Clerk Steve Korsmeyer has rightfully declined to allow this over-reach and the secretary of state’s office fully supports him.

If the DOJ desires to meet to discuss this matter further, they may meet at my office instead of trying to bully a hard working county official.

The states have the power and authority to run free and fair elections without supervision from the federal government. This is exactly the kind of power abuse Convention of States seeks to curb.

Washington bureaucrats should not for one second think they can bully states into submission. We the People can fight back by not just voting today but also calling for an Article V Convention of States to put an end to federal overreach.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
