We at Convention of States encourage everyone to help their WI State legislators with their campaigns this year and any campaign in the future.
Be sure when you volunteer, you do so as an individual, not as a member or leader of Convention of States. And of course be sure to get out and vote this election.
Knock on doors, make phone calls, do literature drops, set up signs, talk with voters, etc. Our WI State Legislators, in the upper house the Senate and in the lower house the Assembly need your help. This year’s election is Tuesday November 5, 2024. And there is plenty of interest since it is a Presidential election year.
There are 99 WI State Assembly seats up for grabs this year. Three Assembly seats have no one opposing the candidate. Sixteen WI State Senate seats are open. This election cycle, the WI Assembly and Senate District maps have changed. So many candidates are introducing themselves to new voters this election.
Convention of States Action cannot tell you what candidates to support or how to vote, nor can we coordinate with any campaign. The organization cannot support or coordinate with any political party or candidate as we are a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the public about Article V of the US Constitution.
How to volunteer?
First be sure you know who represents you in the WI State Assembly and WI State Senate. District maps have changed, so your legislators may have changed. Some WI State Assembly members and Senators have decided to retire from the legislature or run in a different district. Some WI State Senators have not finished their terms.
How do you find out who are the legislators representing you?
A fast and easy way is to go to http://myvote.wi.gov and enter your address to view who is on your ballot. Scroll down to your Wisconsin State Legislators.
Call the office of the legislator you wish to help and tell them you want to volunteer to work for their election or re-election campaign. Ask how can you help.
Be sure to not wear any Convention of State clothing, buttons, or pins. You as an individual can work for a candidate and vote for the legislator of your choice. Convention of States cannot.
Why help them?
As an individual, be sure to research the candidates you work for to learn all you can. Your research should confirm your values align with theirs.
When you campaign for a candidate, the candidate will want to know all about you. It is okay to tell them you support Convention of States. It will add to our credibility.
